HOUSTON (March 20, 2012)Harvard Elementary School is pleased to announce that it has been named an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Director General Jeffrey R. Beard and IB Americas Regional Director Drew Deutsch announced their decision simultaneously in Geneva, Switzerland and Bethesda, Maryland on March 14, 2012. Press Release
The school will offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to all students enrolled in prekindergarten through grade 5. The programme focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and the world outside. Harvard Elementary School began the authorization process in 2008 with extensive professional development in the curriculum model and standards; inquiry; promoting international-mindedness; transdisciplinary and concept-based learning; assessment; and the action cycle.
